The Lesser Poland region, the cradle of Polish history and culture, surprises especially with its plethora of monuments and national heritage sites. Diverse highland landscapes and the majestic Carpathian mountain pass possess both rich tradition of wooden architecture as well as still living and cultivated folk customs. As for Kraków, the former royal capital and university city, it remains the center of culture and art.
Suggested itinerary
    Poland, Krakow

    Arrival in Krakow. Travel to Carpathians. Stop at Lanckorona, traitional Polish town with wooden houses surrounding its market square. Visit in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska with its baroque monastery, famous for 44 surrounding chapels (featured on the UNESCO world heritage list). In the evening, arrival in Zakopane - the mountain capital in the heart of Polish Carpathians. Check-in at the hotel.

    Poland, Zakopane

    After breakfast, exploring wooden architecture of Zakopane: Villa Koliba with its museum of "Zakopane style", St. Clement's Church and cemetery called "Na Peksowym Brzyzku", referred to as "the Polish Pantheon". Free time on Krupowki, the main shopping street.

    Poland, Krakow

    Excursion to Chocholow, village with preserved traditional architecture, where large wooden logs constituting the houses' building material, are still hand-washed each spring. Visit at a local sculptor's. Travel to Krakow. Check-in at the hotel.

    Option : Travel to Debno and visit in wooden church with 15th century polichromies. Short stop to enjoy views around a castle in Niedzica. Rafting down the Dunajec river along Polish-Slovakian border. Travel to Krakow. Check-in at the hotel. (Travel time between Zakopane - Debno - Krakow + visit time and rafting is around 7 hours.)

    Option : Travel to Oswiecim to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camps. Travel to Krakow. Check-in at the hotel. (Travel time between Zakopane - Oswiecim - Krakow + visit time is around 7 hours.).

    Poland, Krakow

    After breakfast, sightseeing Krakow, the former capital of Polish kings located on Wawel hill with its renaissance castle and cathedral - site of royal coronations. Walk with a guide along the royal trail: Grodzka street with its numerous churches, Main Square with its Clothhall, St. Mary's Church, courtyard of Jagiellonian University funded in 1364, city walls with Florianska Gate and the Barbakan. In the afternoon, time for individual sightseeing and shopping at the Market Square. Night in Krakow.

    Poland, Wieliczka

    Excursion to Wieliczka to visit the salt mine placed on the list of UNESCO world heritage sites in 1978. Drive to the airport and departure to France.
