Tailor-made North America tours

From the Rockies to the Maya cities of Yucatán. Each of these countries is too big for one trip, and a tour starts with choosing a region.

Combining

Which regions go together

In the United States you are best off combining parks from the same region. Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands all lie in Utah, and the Grand Canyon is in neighbouring Arizona. Yellowstone and Grand Teton are linked by a parkway. New York lies more than 3,900 kilometres from Los Angeles as the crow flies, and if you want to see more, you are better off planning a second trip than a longer list.

In Canada, Vancouver and Halifax are further apart than Brussels and Cairo. One region, such as the Rockies, Quebec or the Atlantic provinces, makes a trip; two regions mostly make airports. The exception is the train journey across the country, which is meant precisely to let you feel the distance.

In Mexico you combine Mexico City and Puebla with the Yucatán peninsula, with Mérida, Uxmal, Chichén Itzá, Campeche and Calakmul. Between the capital and Yucatán you fly.

Questions about a tour of North America

How many days do you need for a tour of North America?

For the United States, allow two to three weeks, for one or two regions that border each other. For Canada, allow two weeks for one region, such as the Rockies, Quebec or the Atlantic provinces. For Mexico, allow fourteen to eighteen days if you combine the capital with Yucatán.

Can you combine the east and the west of Canada?

You can, but Vancouver and Halifax are further apart than Brussels and Cairo, and two regions mostly make airports. The exception is the train journey across the country, which is meant precisely to let you feel the distance.

What is the travel advice for North America?

Travel advice applies per country, not per continent, and within one country it can differ by region. You will find it with the Belgian Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, at diplomatie.belgium.be. We follow it for every country on your route, before you leave and during your trip, and discuss with you what it means for your journey.
